Book Binding Workshop - Liberties Papers
Earlier this year I discovered a new shop in a very old haunt of mine. Just around the corner from my primary school in Terenure lies Liberties Papers. This is a petite shop hidden away in a corner. They stock all kinds of paper and cloth. Walking in, it is very cramped but there's a bit of magic about the place and I really enjoyed browsing while I waited for my workshop to start.

I took part in a bookbinding workshop where we created small notebooks. Ann Kenny was out instructor and kept everything very simple. I believe it was a class of 6 with plenty of table space upstairs. After a couple of practice runs, we were allowed to go down to the shop space and pick any paper we liked for our end pages and covers. This was really a lovely experience, and it was great to see every picking through their options.
For me, as an absolute beginner, I sometimes felt I was falling behind as I struggled with the needling and with keeping the pages even. The class was mostly older women and then myself so they helped me get the thread through my needle a few times. There was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere.
However, I still got through just find and my 2 notebooks came out well. I used some extra paper to make little holders for the notebooks as well which I think added a little extra pizzazz to my work.
Liberties papers do lots of different workshops and I definitely want to go back again in the future. The Clamshell Boxes seem lovely in particular!
