Goblet of Fire (2026) Audiobook

Puberty hits hard.

The full-cast audiobook of Goblet of Fire marks the shift to the older versions of the cast who will see out the final entries of the series. It certainly does take a few chapters to get used to the new, deeper voiced Harry in particular. It's a really difficult transition to pull off and I feel like there is an element of just biting the bullet and accepting that listeners will have to get used to it.

It's exciting now that we're moving into the longer and darker entries as I had started to feel like the world was desperate for more time to build up the mysteries that each book presents. Goblet of Fire marks a significant jump in run time and it really benefits from this. The Wizarding World feels larger here - with the Quidditch world cup, multiple Wizarding schools and a greater focus on ministry and death eater wizards - the world of Harry Potter feels greater than just Hogwarts.

It's probably a very good depiction of puberty in young kids but Harry and Ron really make some poor decisions in Goblet of Fire and BOY do they have an attitude about it when it comes to bite them. It is funny at times but infuriating at others. It is an aspect of these stories that stands out more when you return to them as an adult and don't necessarily automatically side with the protagonists.

I love the darker tone of this entry and James McAvoy as Moody is such an interesting choice that pays off so well. Honestly the casting across the board has been the highlight of this series and I am very excited to move into the Order of the Phoenix soon.
