KPOP Demon Hunters (2025)
"I made it for the tiger but the bird keeps taking it"
K-pop Demon Hunters took over the world for a minute there. It's really insane that Golden is playing on the radio here basically every hour in Ireland. You really have to put into context that a song from an animated Netflix movie about K-pop singers is absolutely waltzing all over the charts worldwide. That is saturation and, honestly, it's quite well deserved.
K-pop Demon Hunters has a great visual style and plays out like a full albums worth of music videos with some lore to connect each song and that plays heavily to its strengths. It's fast, it's fun and it is hard to walk away without humming Golden or Soda Pop in particular. The characters are light and I don't think the story breaks any new ground but it really doesn't have to - the style, the music and the performances speak for themselves.
This is absolutely going to be the new bane of parents lives for the foreseeable future. You've heard Let It Go enough times, now get ready for 500 plays of Golden every single day. If you are on the fence about watching this one, I'd honestly recommend giving it a look just to get the context for why all the kids have purple hair at Halloween, why you're hearing Korean on the radio and why Netflix are shoving this random anime in your face every time you login. You might just walk away a fan like me!
