Reckless Ben Legos
I've never done a post about "internet discourse" before but this has just been so juicy. Reckless Ben feels a bit like a mixture of CoffeeZilla and Niko Omilana in the style of investigating he is doing here.
It's all very entertaining and I think Ben will probably reach levels of success far beyond what he had ever reached before thanks to this series. Even I may have to subscribe to his Patreon when Episode 3 releases...
Obviously, these are complex issues and a huge amount of money is involved. The conduct of Bricks & Minifigs often comes across as ridiculous and disrespectful even if behind the curtain there might be an air of truth to some of what they say. I'd find it surprising that the previous owners, who originally too the consignment on, had sold off the majority of the stock without paying the family their share. They've been so open with Ben and the media about it, I just think if they had been at fault they'd be much more reluctant to engage.
Ben's conduct is not always ideal for this situation. I can't really fault the effectiveness of it, and I also understand that the more entertaining the videos the better the reach. I just sometimes worry that some of the actions, the website in particular, may be making B&M more likely to try to fight back as they've shown with some of their tactics.
No matter what happens with their court cases I hope that the money from the GoFundMe can be used to make the family whole so they can focus on their sick father. There have been some resignations at B&M this past week so hopefully Ben can wrap things up neatly without picking up any charges for himself. The Patreon CEO standing up for them was also fantastic, it seems like it is a great platform for creators.
