Solve Along A Murder She Wrote

My first experience of Tim Benzie's Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote was in the Prince Charles cinema in London. The PCC is easily my favourite cinema around and there has not been a trip to London over the last 10 years where I haven't snuck in to watch something - whether it was Indiana Jones in 8mm, Big Shark with a Tommy Wiseau Q+A or Gladiator, I have always had a simply wonderful experience there.

Now I've been to this show a few times now - both in Dublin and London - and it's such a fun time. This past week, we visited the Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin. The Lighthouse is a fantastic cinema with a great sense of style. It is one of the last cinemas in Ireland that I really enjoy visiting and they show a great variety of movies. It is also the go-to spot for anime in Dublin.

Tim has the rights to play episodes of Murder She Wrote and he sprinkles in loads of trivia, fun games, audience interaction and a simply infectious energy to proceedings. We introduced some friends to the show this time and it was wonderful to see their delight throughout the episode.

It isn't necessary at all to have watched the show before but an appreciation for that age of television and murder mystery does add to the enjoyment. Tim goes through the various different actors involved in the particular episode that you are watching so it's fun when you recognise the various guest stars. Our friends have great knowledge of movies - particularly old horror movies - so they were really on the ball when it came to this section.

This particular screening was special for St. Patricks day. We watched "Another Killing in Cork" which was one of the episodes I've been hoping would come up. The variety of Irish accents on display, mostly awful, and the strange image of Ireland from the perspective of American writers filming on a set in the US made for a great laugh.

I'll be back to the Prince Charles very soon for another one of these events and I cannot wait. It's a great example of offering something unique to audiences - and judging by the list of sell-out shows - it is paying off for the team here. More of this please!
